Matt Towler is a multimedia creator whose past work has included illustration, fine art portraiture, and altered dolls.
Most recently, he has embraced the smartphone as a primary camera whose immediacy allows for capturing the moments and details sometimes overlooked by others. Often the focus is on duality, like that of natural/urban views, macro/micro textures, light/shadow, and beauty/decay. The lack of people in these particular photos was not a conscious choice at first, but has since become an intentional feature of his work.
Upon reflection and re-examination, this series can read either as a celebration of solitude or a record of loneliness.
