Normally I would say that I prefer that my art speak for itself. But I guess that would be a bit of a cop-out.
I have been creating for as long as I can remember, and probably before that. Dinosaurs and strange creatures were the norm during those years, with 'Star Wars' inspiring sci-fi influences. I did not even attempt to draw humans until age 12 or so, and I still feel that I have a long way to go in mastering that, strange creatures that we are, though I do try to get to figure drawing sessions when possible.
After graduating from Massachusetts College of Art, which taught me much, my work went from whimsical and humorous to darker and less censored. Though some may doubt it, I have lightened up considerably since then, but I am still drawn to a 'darker' aesthetic. It may fly in the face of the mainstream, but I know that there's a place for it.
The majority of my current work involves photography and the use of Photoshop. I've been trying to find a fusion between the two, which I attempted with the 'They Rise at Midnight' series.
Part of me wants to go even darker, but I also want to hold onto the idea of 'beauty' that I have in my head that can't be expressed with mere words. Which is probably why I persevere with this and not give up and become a computer programmer or such.
Somewhere between beauty and decay seems to be where I'm headed.
